  • Dr. Piyush Mathur is a physician innovator with more than 20 years of clinician experience as a Staff Anesthesiologist and Critical Care physician at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. Driven by a passion to demystify complex technologies for safer care delivery, he has also served since 2011 as the Quality Improvement Officer and Chair of the Compliance Committee for the Cleveland Clinic's Anesthesiology Institute. A global leader in clinical artificial intelligence implementation, Dr. Mathur is the co-founder of BrainX, an AI in healthcare application research and development company, and the founder of the BrainX Community: one of the largest international networks dedicated to machine learning applications in medicine. Trained formally in computer programming, machine learning, and deep learning, he brings a unique, interdisciplinary fluency that bridges the worlds of active patient care, regulatory compliance, and software engineering. Throughout his tenure, Dr. Mathur has successfully pioneered and integrated multiple life-saving algorithms and automated alert protocols directly into mainstream hospital health records. He is an extensively published scholar, having contributed to over 200 peer-reviewed articles and clinical textbooks, including Strategies for Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare and Voices of Innovation - AI: Fulfilling the Promise of AI in Healthcare. He completed his medical training at the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) in India, followed by his anesthesiology residency, critical care fellowship, and quality fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic, where he is the recipient of multiple innovation awards and the prestigious Presidential Citation from the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
