Kim Downey is a patient and physician advocate working at the intersection of lived experience, clinician wellbeing, and healthcare system reform. A physical therapist and three-time cancer survivor, she brings a deeply personal and human perspective to the structural challenges facing modern medicine.
Through her platform, Stand Up (for) Doctors!, Kim amplifies the voices of clinicians and patients, addressing issues such as burnout, moral injury, and the erosion of autonomy in healthcare. Her work reflects sustained engagement with frontline realities, alongside a commitment to restoring connection, trust, and sustainability within the system.
She serves as an Ambassador for the Dr. Lorna Breen Heroes’ Foundation and the Clinician Burnout Foundation, and as a Community Ambassador for Medicine Forward, contributing to national conversations on clinician wellbeing and healthcare transformation.
Within the CaPER Global Insight Circle, Kim brings a critical perspective grounded in both patient and clinician experience, ensuring that insight reflects not only data, but the lived realities behind it.
